Changes to urine sample testing
From this week (week-commencing the 3rd February 2025) , the urine sample testing procedure is changing:
- Green bottles (new) – Now used for most samples.
- Yellow bottles (current) – Used only for Bence Jones Protein and Albumin/Creatinine Ratio (for a small number of samples).
- If both a dip test and a laboratory test are required, samples must be provided in both green and yellow (or white) bottles.
- Both bottles MUST be labelled and placed in the same clear plastic bag.
- Important reminders:
- All bottles must be placed inside a single clear plastic bag, with all sections of the label fully completed.
- Green bottles must be filled to the 'fill line' – underfilled samples will be rejected.
- The white powder inside the green bottle must be dissolved by inverting the bottle five times after filling.
- Incorrectly labelled samples will be rejected by the laboratory.
- Drop-off times: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 4:00pm.
- Drop-off locations:
- Sample drop-off box on the wall in the main reception waiting room (opposite the main entrance).
- Hand samples to Reception.
